Operated by American Overseas Airlines as Flagship Scandinavia, Flagship Europe and Flagship Great Britain, then Clipper America and Clipper Australia when AOA was absorbed into Pan Am.

On 9 July 1959, this aircraft was on final approach to Tokyo when the gear unsafe warning horn sounded and warning lamp illuminated just after the captain had reduced power for landing. He requested a go-around, but realised that he didn't have sufficient airspeed, so retracted the gear and made a belly-landing instead. The six crew and 53 passengers all survived.
